Determining how query restrictions are shown

Query restrictions limit the number of items sent to you from the Service Desk server. The query restrictions speed up Service Desk by limiting the use of the network. The query restriction may confuse you because not all items are shown. Service Desk can warn you when query restrictions apply. If a query restriction applies to a list shown in a quick find dialog box, Service Desk may even start Advanced Find instead of Quick Find. In the Advanced Find you can limit the list of items using your own criteria.

To determine how query restrictions are shown:

  1. Choose Options from the Tools menu.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. If you want to see a warning when the query restriction applies, select the Show warning when query restriction is exceeded check box.
  4. If you want to use advanced find when the query restriction applies to a quick find list, select the Start Advanced Find when Quick Find exceeds query restriction check box.
