With the Advanced tab page you can find items
using more fields than when using the Standard tab
page. Also, in the Advanced tab page you can
customize the criteria you use to find items. If you open the
Advanced Find dialog box from a
text field in a form, you can use the Advanced tab
page to find items that include similar
phrases or keywords.
To find items:
In the Advanced Find dialog
box, click the Advanced tab.
Click Field.
Choose the field you want to use. You can choose additional
fields by pointing to a related item's name and choose a field from
the sub-menu.
If you point at a related item a sub-menu will pop-up. You can choose a field
that is a maximum of two levels of related items deep.
The field menu shows the fields of the current item and the
items that are related to the current item.
From the Operator list, choose the operator
you want to use with the selected field.
If the condition requires a value, enter it in the
Value field. Depending on the type of field, you
can type a value or select a value from the list. If you search on
a text field, you can use wildcard
characters.
Click Add to List.
To add additional criteria, repeat steps 2 through 6.
When you have entered all the criteria you want, click
Find Now.
NOTES:
In the Operator list, the operator "exists"
will search for items that have any value in the field, "doesn't
exist" will search for items that have no value in the field (in
other words, where the field is empty). For example, to create a
query to find all service calls where no CI has been entered:
choose Configuration Item from the
Field list and Doesn't Exist from
the Operator list, click Add to
List and then Find Now. The results will
include all service calls where the CI is blank.
When specifying criteria based on fields that contain
hierarchical values, use the operators "equals" and "not equal to"
for searches based on the particular value specified in the
Value field. Use the operators "in tree with root"
and "not in tree with root" for searches based on values equal to
or below the hierarchical root specified in the
Value field. For example, your hierarchy of
configuration item categories may contain the value "Printers" with
a number of sub-categories including "Inkjet" and "Laser". (The
"Printers" category may itself be a sub-category of "Hardware".) To
create a query to find all service calls reported against any type
of printer: choose Configuration Item;Category
from the Field list, choose in tree with
root from the Operator list, and choose
Hardware/Printers in the Value
field; then click Add to List and then click
Find Now. The results will include service
calls reported against inkjet, laser, and any other category of
printer.
If you add more than one criterion to the list, only items that
meet all of the search criteria are found.
